Latest Observations/ a bit of background

Currently I own eight tarantulas. An Avic Avic pink toe, and Thai tiger, a MM rosea, two MF rosea, a MM OBT, and two A Versicolor slings.

Here is a general overview of my recent observations of the tarantulas...

Avic Avic- is a 2.5-3" pokie, and hopefully female. I purchased her from a LPS called Animal Kingdom. When I first got her, she stayed in the corner of her enclosure behind a plant. It took her about 5 days before she made any webbing. Now lately she has become more active and moving around the enclosure more which is always nice to see.

Thai Tiger- Is a 4" MF. She was purchased from a LPS called Animabelia. She was also labled as a cobalt. But looking at her you could tell she wasn't. She was very aggressive when I first got her, she would slap/strike at anything that moved. She was also skinny when I got her. I fed her up, and gave her some coco fiber she could burrow in and she has become a wonderful pet hole. I almost never see her any more. She only comes out after being fed. She doesn't even come out to get her food, she waits for the roaches to fall into her hole, which is in a corner and since the roaches run the walls of the enclosure, they always fall into her hole. Once she is done eating, that's the only chance I get to see her, while she is tossing out the remains.

MM OBT- is a 4" MM. He was also purchased at my LPS
Animabelia. He decided not to go arboreal, but take up living in a clay pot. He is the first T I purchased, he hardly ever ate when I got him, and was skinny when I got him and therefore hasn't gotten any bigger sadly. I've also never seen him make a sperm web, but I think I've found the remains of one, also the way he webbed up his clay pot, it would be perfect for one big sperm web house. Although lately he has become more active. He has been seen out around 5pm and it's not getting dark until around 7:30pm. He also has started to eat a bit more often. I'm thinking he's now starting to look for a female.

MM rosea- is a 5-5.5" MM. He was also purchased at my LPS Animabelia. He has been very active ever since I got him, he is very nicely colored, but doesn't eat much. He made some webbing, but I couldn't tell if it was a sperm web or not. It looked torn down and rolled in the dirt. He has been paired with both of my females. He more recently made a sperm web for sure, about a week ago, he's trampled it down since, but he still guards it daily and is often seen standing ontop of it.

MF rosea #1 is a 5-5.5" MF. She was Purchased at my local petco. She doesn't like to be handled, and I don't plan on forcing her to any time. She also has never eaten in my care. She was paired with my MM on 3/17 The maiting was a success. On 3/18 I came home to find her on her back prepairing for a molt, which explains why she wouldn't eat. I found her on her back around midnight, I checked on her at 1am and again at 2am. She made no change during those 2 hours. I went to sleep, and set an alarm for 4am. I checked on her then and she had made NO CHANGE again. So I went back to sleep and set my alarm for 8am when I needed to be up for work that day. I had to get some sleep. When I woke up I checked on her to find that she was fully molted, but still on her back. I waited till she was back on all 8's before removing the molt. After a measurement of the molt. She was 5.5". She now looks to be a good 6". On 3/25 it had been a week since she molted. I checked her fangs and they are completly back again. But I will wait one more week before trying to feed her anything. After this, I'm thinking I will feed her one male roach a night for 3 nights to feed her up before pairing her with my MM again.

MF rosea #2- is a 4-4.5" MF. She was also purchased at
my LPS Animabelia. When I saw her in the pet store, they said she had just come in that day. She was small, and skinny. She was in a deli cup, as all the other T's I've gotten from them were kept. She had two dead crickets in with her, and enough water to have dround them. She was also wet and not happy at all. She was shaking water off her leg. She wasn't the nicest looking rosea, but I felt bad for her, and none of their other T's have I seen like this. So home she came with me and I dried her off, and set her up in KK. I've been trying to feed her twice a week because she is skinny, but sometimes she refuses the second roach. She hasn't fattened up any at all. She has been paired with my MM several times. The first few pairings resulted in them running away from each other, then of just her running away from him, and he wouldn't give chase. More recent pairings have resulted in the male being able to hook the female. But he hasn't inserted. It seems as though he can't find here to put his "goods". I'm starting to think that she is a he. But she has no hooks and no bulbs. Maybe she is a immature male? My MM is a bit bigger then her though, so that could be why as well. I'm starting to hope for a molt soon so I'll be able to tell for sure. She looks female all around to me anyways, and she was also fed one male roach tonight.

A Versicolor slings are both 1/2" slings. They were purchased from RobC from a member at arachnoboards.com. Shortly after joining that forum, I could tell that he was one of the best in the T breeder business and had great reviews. They have been eating twice a week on crickets almost the same size they are. They have also started to make more webbing in their enclosures lately. I'm waiting on these guys to molt. They both look nice and plump, one is a bit fatter then the other though. I don't like the set up they have, as it's very hard to feed. So once they molt and harden back up I'm going to rehouse them. I want to wait for this because I don't want to stress them if they are getting close to a molt.

coming in the mail Tuesday

1 4.5" MF OBT
2 1" OBT slings
1 .5" C. Fasciatum sling
1 .5" B. Vegans Sling (Freebie)

All the above T's are coming from Franklin on another T forum I'm a member of. I got great deals on all of them. I can't wait for them to get here. I'm hoping to successfully pair my MM and the MF OBT's.
